The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (RQF) is a regulated, nationally recognised qualification for people looking to work or volunteer as first responders. It provides a foundation in assessing and managing patients in a pre-hospital environment.

Who is it for?

People interested in event medical work, community first response, security and close protection, or roles in higher-risk workplaces. If you are unsure whether FREC 3 is right for your role, speak to us about your goals and experience.

How is the qualification assessed?

Qualsafe’s 2025 qualification page lists six mandatory practical assessments, one multiple-choice question paper and one invigilated exam. Five optional practical assessments for extended skills are listed separately, subject to clinical governance authorisation. Optional skills are not promised as part of C360 delivery.

When are courses running, and what does it cost?

Dates, delivery schedule, venues and prices are not yet published here. Register your interest and the C360 team can discuss the proposed training arrangements with you. Do not make a payment until your place and course details have been confirmed in writing.

Does FREC 3 give me a licence to practise?

No. The qualification is not a licence to practise. Any interventions must remain within your own and your organisation’s scope of practice and agreed ways of working.
